Lesson 9: The Negative
Every sentence so far has been a positive statement. This lesson introduces ʻikai, the Tongan word for "not."
To negate a sentence that has a pronoun subject, place ʻikai te between the tense marker and the pronoun. The verb and everything after it stay in their normal positions.
