Lesson 26: Purpose, Reason, and Benefit

This lesson covers how to express purpose ("in order to"), give a reason ("because"), and say who benefits from an action ("for someone").

Tongan uses the word ke to introduce a part of the sentence that depends on the main clause. This dependent part is called a subordinate clause: a group of words built around a verb that cannot stand on its own. It needs the main clause for its meaning.
