Lesson 5: Commands and Emphasis

Every sentence so far has required a tense marker and a pronoun. This lesson introduces commands, which use the verb alone, and emphatic pronouns, which add emphasis to any sentence pattern.

A command tells someone to do something. A command is a sentence built from the verb alone, without a tense marker or a pronoun. In English, "Stay!" works the same way: the verb does all the work.
